1. Skills CLI 1.0: packages now carry their own AI agent instructions

The Dart team shipped Skills CLI 1.0, aimed squarely at a familiar annoyance: you add a package to your project and your AI assistant has no idea how to use it — it guesses APIs, invents patterns, and hallucinates methods that don't exist. Until now you worked around that by pasting documentation into chat or writing custom rules. Package authors can now ship a skills/ directory of structured instructions that teach an agent how to use the package properly.

Running dart pub publish bundles that directory into the package archive automatically. Consumers then run dart run skills@ get, and the CLI walks the dependency tree, finds skills across every dependency, and installs them into the agent — Claude Code, Cursor, Cline and others are supported. It builds on May's introduction of Agent Skills for Dart and Flutter, this time as a finished distribution tool at 1.0.

2. Two hotfixes: Flutter 3.47.3 and 3.47.4

Version 3.47.3 landed on September 9 with four fixes. Actions.handler was returning null on every platform, Impeller had a performance problem on Android with B-Series PowerVR GPUs, the error message for an incomplete Xcode installation is now actionable, and license status reporting for Android SDK tools 23.0+ was corrected.

Version 3.47.4 followed on September 11 with seven fixes. The nastiest two: debugging under Xcode 27 could launch the app to a white screen and hang for several minutes, and a native asset bundling bug broke submissions to the iOS App Store. Beyond those, the tool now fails gracefully when Windows security policies block binary execution, and analytics were added for SwiftPM migration and preview reload. Both hotfixes carry Dart SDK 3.13.3, and none of the fixes change framework API.

For the record: 3.47.5 shipped on September 18 with Dart SDK 3.13.4 — outside the period covered here, but it is the current stable release.

3. Google Summer of Code 2026 results

Dart and Flutter published the results of this year's Google Summer of Code — five completed projects, two of them landing straight in DevTools. Yash Hosalli extended the Network panel with WebSocket support, including frame-level data, timestamps and connection lifecycle events. Nourhan H. added safe native memory inspection, using low-level kernel APIs to prevent segmentation faults when reading arbitrary addresses.

The other three: Hassnaa Mohamed Ahmed extended package:ffigen to generate FFI bindings for C++ APIs automatically, including class pointers and native object lifetime management; Javad Asadi replaced the outdated Weberknecht library in the IntelliJ plugins with the WebSocket client built into the JDK; and M. Fazri Nizar implemented an Android JCA backend for package:webcrypto that draws SHA-256, HMAC, AES and RSA from Android itself instead of shipping extra native code.

4. Flutter & Friends in Stockholm

Stockholm hosted Flutter & Friends from September 3–5 — three days of talks, lightning talks and closing workshops. The programme is a decent snapshot of where the community's attention currently sits: hybrid AI, Flutter on desktop and multi-window, accessibility at a scale of a million users, the GenUI SDK and orchestration layers, Marionette MCP, 3D, enterprise architecture and monetisation.
